The Big 30

As of September 3, I AM 30 YEARS OLD! That's weird!

Anyway, the festivities were pretty fun.  As is tradition, we went to the Orem Storytelling Festival on Labor Day weekend with Rebecca's family.  We just stayed at her parents house and went to church with them and had the family party Sunday night.  My family from Orem even came (Aunt Cheryl and her children, Grandma Scott, my cousin Heidi and her husband Jeff).

Rebecca and her family made a huge birthday dinner and Rebecca made the cake.  My only request for the cake was that it be something we've never had before.  She made a lemon cake with cream-cheese frosting.  It was good.  Cheryl also brought a huge chocolate cake, otherwise we would have ran out considering there were about 18 people there.

I was given very generous and thoughtful gifts.  Rebecca's parents made their card funny by referring me to 2 Chronicles 24:11.  I also got a super awesome card/box that Rebecca spent hours designing and making. Make sure you expand the pictures to see all the nitty gritty details.

California/Nevada Trip

This post is pretty late. I'm sure you'll all get over it. At the end July my brother Brian got married in Carson City, Nevada. The wedding was the morning of Saturday, July 30th, but we left the Thursday before to give us more time with the family in Folsom. We had dinner with Brian and his soon to be daughter Sammy Thursday night in Carson City. The next day we went hiking to Lake Angela near Donner Lake on our way down to Folsom.  You can read all about the hike at Rebecca's hiking blog, if you're in to that sort of thing.

The decorations at the wedding and reception looked very nice.  They had a citrus color theme.  Rebecca designed the gift favor boxes to look like orange, lemon, and lime wedges and they were filled with jelly beans.

We had the whole family there except the token missing missionary brother, in this case Daniel.

We spent Sunday with family in Folsom, and then we drove home again on Monday.
