Congratulations Allan!

My brother Allan just graduated with a bachelor of science degree in engineering from BYU Friday.

He definitely has a knack for engineering. Growing up, he was always interested in learning about how things worked, from bridges to airplanes. He loved to build things too. Once he made a little working vacuum with his Erector Set, and another time he made a functioning lawn mower using the same set (or at least it would have worked if he had possessed real blades to put in it). Really, he has been putting little projects like that together almost since I can remember...

We are very happy for him and wish him the best as he starts grad school at BYU this next fall!

A Bit More Home Improvement

It is hard to do much yard work during the winter, so we moved our home improvement focus inside the house. We recently just finished repainting the "pink room." Thank goodness!

Here is what it looked like before:

And here it is now:

We like the new color much better! It is actually more blue than I thought it would be; we were trying for something that looked even more neutral blue than things turned out. It is kind of hard to know what a whole room will turn out looking like from a tiny paint swatch sample. We still think it looks pretty nice though, and it is definitely better than pink. Especially the grimy dirt splattered pink that we found when we moved in...

We also replaced our dishwasher, which appeared to be the original from when this house was built, with a new one that actually gets most things clean when we use it.

As it continues to warm up, maybe we will eventually finish the patio that was left unfinished by whoever started it years ago.
