Fall Color

Sunday we headed over to my parents' house to celebrate my brother Nathan's birthday. We went down early though so that my parents could tend Austin while Nate and I attended the Brigham City Temple dedication broadcast.

We had some time between the dedication and the birthday party, so we took the opportunity to head up the Alpine Loop for a good view of the beautiful fall colors. We apparently weren't the only ones with that idea...Alpine Loop was lined with other vehicles and people who obviously were there for the same purpose.

The brightly colored trees set the mountain slopes aflame with their fiery colors. It was a sight worth seeing!

My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend up there enjoying it all.

Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day

Today apparently is "Talk Like A Pirate Day." Since Krispy Kreme was giving away a free dozen doughnuts for the occasion to anyone who dressed up like a pirate and then went in and talked like one today, we decided to take advantage of the offer. Moglie was kind enough to help us out.

We definitely enjoyed our doughnuts. So did Nate's co-workers. And Austin had fun making a mess of his.

Ice Cream Smorgasbord

Rebecca has been working on a printable party set to sell on her Etsy Shop. The theme of the design is ice cream, so we decided to give it a test drive. She got to make all of her decorations and take photographs for her listing, plus we got to have ice cream with a lot of family, friends, and neighbors! I doubt we're going to throw a party for each set she designs, but this one was a lot of fun.

We sent out these invitations and asked guests to either bring ice cream or a topping.

Here are some of the decorations she designed and made.

"Party Circles" used for labels and cupcake toppers and a party hat

Ice cream cone wrappers

Ice cream cone-shaped gift boxes

Austin being forced to wear the party hat

We filled the prototype gift boxes with candy and used them as door prizes.  Just to be funny, we also included a giant zucchini in the prize drawing and Kai Post (the cute little girl on the far left) was excited to win it.
