We spent time talking, playing games, eating treats, going to Dairy Keen for lunch, and playing at the park. Our kids also spent time exploring the frozen pond outside and falling through the ice into the mud and water. They also spent some time playing in the loft. They chose to sleep up in the loft the first night, but that came to a quick end when they got up in the very early hours of the morning to play up there, waking nearly everyone else in the cabin up with them...
On Sunday, the kids also made gingerbread trains. And of course, indulged in snacking on some of the candy for the trains.
We left Monday morning after helping clean up. On our way down Provo Canyon we drove up South Fork Canyon to hike up Big Springs Hollow. Nate and Emma decided they wanted to turn back before the Springs, but Austin and I made it all the way there.
It was definitely cold, but there was no deep snow yet...just a light thin smattering. The cold always brings its own unique beauty with it though, like the delicate ice crystals forming on slender reedy branches along the stream.
The view of Timpanogos seemed especially beautiful on our way out of the canyon, so we stopped to take a picture there too.
