Finished!

Just over a year ago, someone, or some group, decided it would be a good idea to knock the top bricks off the wall bordering our pasture. We were not too happy to discover those bricks knocked off the greater part of the southern side of our wall, lying on the ground, a number of them broken.

We weren't able to find time to fix our wall until this fall. I originally thought the job would be pretty simple. As a kid, I remember watching someone down our street laying bricks, and I remember thinking that it looked so easy. Wow was I wrong!

I don't know if you have ever tried your skills at brick laying, but we soon realized it wasn't going to be the relatively quick one day project we had hoped. We first had to chip off the old cement from the wall and the bricks, at least as much as that was possible. Luckily for us, our home teacher volunteered to help some with this. Actually laying the bricks down and getting them to stick with the mortar was much more challenging than I had anticipated. Luckily, we improved with some practice, but it was still a slow process.

The end results are far from perfect. They aren't even that particularly pretty. But we are happy to say we are finally done.
