Shakespeare Festival, Hidden Haven Falls, and Wilcken Family Reunion

On Wednesday, July 2, we drove down to Cedar City with my family to go see Measure for Measure at the Shakespeare Festival that evening. Then the next morning we drove up Parowan Canyon to hike Hidden Haven Falls, which is a short, pleasant, and easy 0.75 mile trail to the waterfall at the base of Benson Creek Slot Canyon.

The waterfall was not flowing very heavily due to the low precipitation levels of the last year in the area, but it was still a very pretty area. We enjoyed a little time there while Austin splashed in the pool of water at the base of the fall.

Nate, Austin, and I stayed with Nate's Aunt Joy's family Wednesday and Thursday evening, then Friday we headed out to Beaver Canyon for a Wilcken family reunion. We stayed at a campground that we shared with a herd of cows. We got there in time to set up our tent and eat lunch. Right after getting the lunch stuff out it started pouring rain though. The rain continued for a portion of the afternoon, so we all took a nap in our tent. Later we played games like disc golf, ate dinner, and roasted marshmellows.

Saturday morning Nate and I attempted to find a trail marked on our trail map of the area that is supposed to go to a spring. However, after some diligent looking, we gave up. The trail seems to have disappeared. We did make it to the top of a dirt hill overlooking our campground and the beautiful surrounding area though.

We played some other games with family members that morning too before eating lunch, cleaning up camp, and heading back home.
