The funeral was nice, despite a few odd moments. For example, all the children and grandchildren were supposed to sing "Families Can Be Together Forever" together. My understanding was that one of my cousin's would be playing the piano for us, but when no piano music started, I looked back and realized there was no one at the piano. As we all stood there confused and awkward, Nate also realized the problem and luckily started us off A Capella, but he started with the chorus by accident. Consequently, we sang the chorus three times instead of just twice.
I really enjoyed listening to many of the stories and memories told about my grandma. Each of Grandma's children spoke for awhile, and one grandchild from each family shared a short memory. My dad shared some stories that he had been working on gathering from Grandma each week as he tried to compile a family history. Afterward the funeral, we went to the graveside service, while my grandparents and aunts on my mom's side watched Austin. My dad said the dedicatory prayer there.
I think all of my cousins were able to be there that day except for one.
