Hansen Cave

A week ago on Saturday my brothers Allan and Ben went on the "Introduction to Caving Tour" at Timpanogos Cave with Nate and me. This tour actually just took us through Hansen Cave, one of the three caves that makes up Timpanogos Cave.

We went prepared for a dirty adventure, but it turned out to not be nearly as dirty, difficult, or adventuresome as we had pictured. It was still fun though. We did have to to a bit more ducking, climbing, and crawling of sorts than you would do on a regular cave tour.

The guide told us some history of the cave and pointed out numerous spots where people wrote their names on the cave walls around a century ago. And of course, the formations are always beautiful and interesting to see.

At the end of the cave we were able to look down over a ledge into a little underground lake. It was so far back and dark, it was hard to see unless we looked closely (after all, the only light we had was from our headlamps). Dripping water caused an occasional ripple in the otherwise still pool.

Here are Ben and Allan sitting on the ledge above the pool.
